TRAFFIC FATALITY – 4th STREET AND XIMENO AVENUE
At approximately 12:57 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of 4th Street and Ximeno Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision.
Upon arrival, officers observed personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department rendering medical aid to a female adult pedestrian in the roadway. Despite lifesaving efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was determined deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2003 Toyota 4Runner was traveling eastbound on 4th Street when she made a left turn onto Ximeno Avenue and struck the pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.
The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old female resident of Long Beach, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
At this time, neither impaired driving, speed, nor distracted driving are believed to be contributing factors in the collision.
The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner’s office.
