LBPD Media Relations
On January 27, at approximately 7:50 p.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to 8th Street and Euclid Avenue on a report of a traffic collision.

Upon officers arrival, they found that the collision involved a blue 2006 Toyota Tacoma and a black 2007 Honda Fit.

Officer's preliminary investigation found that a 53-year-old male resident of Long Beach was driving the 2006 Toyota Tacoma. The Toyota Tacoma broadsided the 2007 Honda Fit on the driver's side, which was being driven by a 49-year-old female resident of Long Beach. The collision forced both vehicles to slide north to their resting place in the north/south lanes of Euclid.

The female driver was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The male driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He has been identified as Richard Roberts.
