*UPDATE* ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED AND CHARGED

On Monday, December 17, 2018, felony charges were filed against 57-year-old Darrell Tatum, of Long Beach in connection with multiple armed robberies at local businesses in and around the City of Long Beach.

Tatum’s case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and six felony counts of robbery and six firearm enhancements were filed against him. Tatum is currently being held at the Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail.

On Thursday, December 13, 2018, detectives arrested Tatum. Pursuant to his arrest detectives served a search warrant at his residence and collected a loaded firearm and evidence related to the robberies.

While detectives continued investigating the robberies, they were informed by the Signal Hill Police Department and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) that they had similar robberies. The LVMPD had subsequently issued a no-bail arrest warrant for Tatum.

Although the investigation remains ongoing, detectives urge any commercial business employee(s) who believe they were a victim of Tatum’s to call Robbery Detective Jacqueline Parkhill at 562-570-5535. UPDATED 12/11/18 with robbery locations:

The Long Beach Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted for multiple armed robberies.

The six incidents occurred between November 27, 2018, and December 7, 2018, at various times between 4:45 - 10:40 p.m. All incidents occurred to a variety of businesses, including a pet store, restaurants, and a wireless store. Incidents occurred on the following dates and locations:

November 27 - 2100 block South Street
November 27 - 4000 block of Atlantic Avenue
December 5 - 3300 block of East Anaheim Street 
December 5 - 1900 block of Ximeno Avenue 
December 5 - 2500 block of Long Beach Blvd.
December 7 - 700 block of Long Beach Blvd. 

In each of the incidents, the suspect armed with a handgun approaches the cashier attempting to purchase an item. Once the cashier opens the till the suspect then robs the cashier and flees the location. 

Detectives are releasing a photo and video footage of the suspect, hoping that someone will recognize him and come forward. The suspect is described as follows:

Gender: Male
Race: African American
Age: 40 to 50 years
Physical Description: Medium build
