VIP Jeannine Pearce

While good judgment should be used, [Did Councilperson Get LBPD VIP Treatment? June 9 issue] endangering others with your reckless driving should have earned you a ticket. As for Pearce, this PD is known for their special VIP treatment and targeted persecution of those whom they disapprove or dislike. It is time for these corrupt practices to end.

As written, this story would be more appropriately placed in the opinion rather than the news section laced, as it is, with so much subjective characterization, slanted inference, innuendo and opinion.

The author’s personal anti-LBPD bias is well-known and much-documented. He should practice a bit more if he wants to be considered an objective news reporter.

Corruption in law enforcement and local government both sometimes exist – tragically – and may even exist in this case, but there is, as yet, no definitive proof of that. The author seems to have forgotten that in his apparent haste to advance his personal bias here.

Downing seems to want to report the news. If so, he should concentrate on his job – investigating and reporting the facts – and leave the editorializing to the editors.

Thank you for your excellent report which I have forwarded to the city attorney so that he can look into the full extent of unethical behavior on the part of our 2nd District Council representative. Aside from any possible LBPD special treatment, my concern is having a city official engaged in drinking and driving and out in the wee hours of the night with a man other than her husband? Clearly, there’s more than meets the eye here.

Excellent reporting Beachcomber. Though I live in LB, I hardly read the mostly unreadable local papers. I didn’t even know about this story until just now. With this kind of grit and persistence, you have got yourself a new daily subscriber.

Paul Brindley

Very typical. This is and will be a cover up with no investigation. Thank you Steve Downing for your coverage. Now I look forward to Press-Telegram and the Grunion Gazette’s top quality investigative reporting. However, I suspect it will be all quiet on the western front.

Whackadoos do what Whackaddos do.
