Player of the Week: Austin Stewart, Men’s Water Polo –Austin Stewart led Long Beach State to a 3-0 start and a runner-up finish at the Triton Invitational, scoring nine goals during the tournament. The senior scored four goals to lead the team in an overtime win over UC Irvine in his highest-scoring performance on the weekend.

The Beach went 2-1 in a busy week at George Allen Field, including a 2-1 double-overtime win on Labor Day against San Diego. Kayla Cannon scored the golden goal in the 109th minute for the team’s first win of the season. On Sunday, Long Beach State kept its first clean sheet of the year in a 3-0 victory over Drexel.

Lost vs. UCLA, 3-0 [29-31, 25-27, 25-27]
Senior Libero Hailey Harward was named to the LBSU Mizuno Classic All-Tournament Team after collecting 60 digs over three matches for an average of 5.00 digs per set.
 
No. 5 Men’s Water Polo (3-1), at Triton Invitational
Won vs. Fresno Pacific, 19-7
Won vs. No. 10 UC Davis, 13-12 (OT)
Won vs. No. 13 UC Irvine, 10-8 (OT)
Lost vs. No. 7 UC Santa Barbara, 12-9
Long Beach State reached the finals of the Triton Invitational in a strong start to the season, outlasting a pair of GCC Rivals in overtime before falling to UCSB in the championship match in La Jolla.
