Player of the Week: Ethan Siegfried, Men’s Volleyball – Ethan Siegfried hit over .400 in both matches last week as his solid offensive attack led the Beach to a pair of four-set wins over No. 9 Penn State and No. 15 Ohio State. Siegfried knocked down 26 kills on 56 swings while committing just one error over two days (.446). Additionally, the he posted 10 digs, five blocks, three assists and two aces.

Lost at Cal Poly, 92-75
Chance Hunter and Michael Carter III shared in the team lead, each scoring 15 points in the loss on the road.

Women’s Basketball (10-12, 5-4 Big West)
Lost at Cal Poly, 61-41
Jasmine Hardy led Long Beach State in a tough road loss as Cal Poly as the sophomore guard finished with 15 points, four rebounds and one assist.

No. 5 Men’s Volleyball (7-1)
Won vs. No. 9 Penn State, 3-1 [24-26, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19]
Won at No. 15 Ohio State, 3-1 [25-21, 25-20, 28-30, 25-22]
Long Beach State got back on the winning track with a pair of victories in Columbus, Ohio. The Beach posted their highest attack percentage of .392 on the year behind 45 assists from junior setter Carlos Rivera, while four players reached double-figure kills.

Lost vs. Oregon, 4-1
Seniors Kellie White and Breezy Wise were both named to the all-tournament team following opening weekend in Puerto Vallarta. White went 2-1 in the circle win wins over Nevada and George Washington, striking out 17 in four appearances while Wise was the leading hitter for the team, batting .429 with a pair of doubles.

No. 12 Women’s Water Polo (6-2)
at Triton Invite
Won vs. No. 16 Loyola Marymount, 8-7
Lost vs. No. 1 USC, 15-6
Lost vs. No. 9 UC Santa Barbara, 8-5
Won vs. Indiana University, 10-9
Long Beach State took seventh place at the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego. The Beach picked up wins against LMU and Indiana University. The Beach were led by Elena Kotanchyan and Anne de Kleer who scored 17 goals combined throughout the weekend. Kotanchyan and de Kleer scored nine and eight goals, respectively.

Women’s Tennis (2-1, 1-0 Big West)
Won vs. San Diego State, 4-1
Long Beach State defeated SDSU for the 15th consecutive season on Saturday afternoon. Lalita Devarakonda improved to 3-0 in the dual season with a straight-set singles win at the No. 6 spot in the lineup.

at Air Force Invitational
The Beach took part in the Air Force Team Challenge and had a strong day in the field. Jason Smith was the winner in both the long jump and high jump, setting the meet record in both events and Charlie Vernoy brought home event wins in the shot put and weight throw.
