710 Freeway to the eastbound 91 Freeway. At 10:51 p.m., a person was killed in a one-vehicle crash on the 710 Freeway, in which the vehicle went down an embankment in the freeway’s northbound lanes and struck a tree, closing the transition road from the northbound and the Artesia Boulevard off-ramp from the northbound 710.

Long Beach. Though the location of the arrest was not made clear, Mark Steven Domingo, 26, of Reseda, a former army infantryman who served in Afghanistan, was arrested when he received what he thought was a bomb but was actually an inert device supplied to him by an undercover law enforcement officer. Domingo allegedly had purchased several hundred nails to be used as shrapnel inside an explosive device, which he passed on to the person whom Domingo though was a collaborator and also visited Bluff Park in Long Beach to plan for an attack on the planned white nationalist rally and protestors of this rally on the upcoming Sunday.

Bluff Park. At 11 a.m., more than 200 protestors showed up to respond to the planned white nationalist rally. After five arrests at a similar rally in Huntington Beach on Friday, the local white nationalists didn’t show. As the protest rally proceeded, police deployed on bicycles as well as monitoring things with a chopper with no incidents reported. No one save the authorities were aware of the just-disrupted alleged plot to bomb the event with a pressure cooker device, much like the one used at the 2013 Boston Marathon.

Studebaker Road near Willow Street. At 7:30 a.m., two males got into a domestic dispute, which resulted in shots allegedly fired by one of the men into the other man’s vehicle. The victim was transported to a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and the suspect was later arrested for attempted murder.
Pacific Coast Highway and Orange Avenue. Police arrived in force at the Long Beach City College campus at 10:30 a.m. The college sent out an alert warning people to hide based on reports of a gunman at the school. What it turned out to be was a film class instructor carrying a prop for a film class. Someone saw the gun, called it in to police, who arrived to the locked down campus and searched for the gunman for a half hour. No gun, no crime, no charges, not even a fanciful film school plot.
4400 block of Heather Road. At 8 p.m., four large men wearing black coveralls, gloves, ski masks and guns made entry into a home. According to the Nextdoor poster, the “alarm was on, but alarm was bypassed by unscrewing backyard lights and smashing sliding glass door. Burglars apparently knew that prying open the door would set off the alarm, thus smashing the glass did not set off the alarm. Fortunately, no one was harmed. Large loss to the owners.” And updated post noted, a perp “may have had a bright colored utility vest on.”
