By 1907, more than 2300 children were enrolled in Long Beach schools. For years, parents had been ordered to vaccinate their children. This year, several parents and Dr. W. L. Woodruff fought the order.
Women are an integral part of the workforce, but they have had to overcome many obstacles along the way. Of course, challenges still remain, but women’s success in the working world is worth commemorating – which will happen on American Business Women’s Day on Sept. 22.
A defining part of Long Beach is its affluent diversity of culture and its on-going celebrations of it. Among various influences, the Greek culture has left a positive impact on the city for years.
