I wanted to reach out in regard to the article titled: “City Attorney Conceals LBPD Overtime Fraud. It was an eye opening piece and I appreciate the steps taken to cover the story. I hope justice prevails and the LBPD can change in a better direction.
As the founder of the Long Beach Veterans Day Parade, I want to clarify some misinformation regarding the parade, the parade committee and why we decided to end our 23-year involvement with this event.
Long Beach streets were ranked up there as worst in nation in 2015; average LB motorist reportedly spent up to $1,000 per year because of vehicle deterioration and depreciation, increased maintenance, fuel consumption, tire wear, etc. Street liability was and still is over $500M.

I was pleased to see your story on the Broadway parking bumpers. When I first encountered them two weeks ago, I emailed the LB Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Disabilities about the fall hazard. I was told, like you were for your article, that half of them are being removed.
I remember the song “Everything Is Beautiful” and many others from my youth that makes me wonder just what some of these young people and especially Congress people are talking about.
I congratulate Jay Beeler on his integrity and willingness to fight to preserve the citizen’s rights of discovery as afforded us by our state and our federal governments. Sunshine is always the best disinfectant.
