Let’s ask ourselves a question. What’s more important to our values? Collin Kaepernik or our flag – that has stood for freedom for nearly 250 years that the world is envious of – or Nike, that makes shoes not made in America?
Among the things that are important to an 81-year-old alumnus are the continued viability of Medicare, the availability of my favorite snacks at Trader Joe’s and the nickname and mascot of my college alma mater.

You see them hanging around the post office in Los Altos or pushing shopping carts full of junk up and down Bellflower Boulevard or camping in our parks and other places around town. They are the transients who usually do not have a job but instead have signs asking for free money.
